Meet Our Doctors

meet_dr_terri_levinstein_1.jpgDr. Terri Levinstein

I'm not sure when exactly I decided to become a veterinarian.  Must have been pretty early because I can't remember planning to do anything else.  Maybe it was my obsession with animals, maybe it was a love of science and medicine, or maybe it was because I was told it was hard to accomplish.  Whatever made up my mind, it has led to more than a few decades of combining my passions and providing me a career where not only do I get to celebrate the animal-human bond, but gives me the opportunity to help other celebrate that bond also.

My family includes not only a husband and three kids, but furred, feathered, and scaled members too.  My latest passion is training our newest dog to become a therapy team so hopefully you will see me out in the community soon.

meet_dr_allison_moser_mayo.jpgDr. Allison Moser Mayo

Also a veterinary clinic director and a 1989 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mayo has been with the practice since Jan. 1995. She has been active in animal welfare in the Dale City and Woodbridge communities for many years. She can often be found leading a Cub Scout or Brownie Troop through the animal clinic on an educational tour, having found that kids love to see x-ray evidence of flatulance.  She is a proponent of teaching kids how to care for and love pets, while also learning how to be safe around them. She is an adjunct professor with the Northern Virginia Community College Veterinary Technician program, having mentored two students through their education there.  Dr. Mayo is married to Kevin (NOT a veterinarian!), and has four kids - Nathan, Joe, Rebecca and Gabriel.  Additionally they have many pets-dogs, cats and birds.  She and her husband have a dream of eventually owning a small farm where they would be able to have goats, sheep and maybe pigs (that they would never eat!).

Dr. Heather Hurst

Dr. Heather Hurst earned a B.S. in agriculture and animal technology at Murray State university in Kentucky in 1998 and her DVM with honors from Auburn University in Alabama in 2002. She has been with the Gunston practice in Lorton since June of 2003. Dr. Hurst's special interests include internal medicine and surgery, and she has 5 cats, 3 dogs, and 1 bird.

meet_dr_terri_davis_and_panzer_1.jpgDr. Terri Davis

Dr. Terri (Summers) Davis has served our veterinary clinics for over twenty years, longer than any other doctor currently on staff. As a result of her longevity, she knows many of you and your pets on sight.  She enjoys working together with our clients to make each patient leave healthier and happier than when they came in for their appointment.

Dr. Davis is originally from Rappahannock County, Virginia. Dr. Davis always knew she would become a veterinarian and never considered any other profession.  She graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. She worked for 7 months at the Harrisonburg Animal Hospital prior to coming to our veterinary hospital in 1993. Her primary fields of interest are internal medicine, surgery and preventative medicine. She does 90% of the surgeries at Dale City Animal Hospital.

Many of you know her as Dr. Summers, but she married Craig Davis a number of years ago. Dr. Davis and her husband enjoy the outdoors. In their free time, they can often be found hiking, camping, kayaking, motorcycling, and fishing. Dr. Davis also enjoys baking and gardening.  The staff loves to be her taste-testers for the variety of delicious cakes and cookies she makes!

Dr. Davis and Craig share them home with their two dogs, Frisco and Carolina, and their cat, Wanchese.

meet_dr_judi_vinch_1.jpgDr. Judi Vinch

Dr. Vinch has always had a love of animals and a love of science and found that Veterinary Medicine was the perfect blend of both.  Dr. Vinch earned her Bachelors at Bowling Green State University and then went on to graduate with her DVM from The Ohio State University in 1996.  After working in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Vinch and her family relocated to Northern Virginia in 2004.  She worked for 7 years at Sacramento Veterinary Hospital before joining our Gunston veterinary hospital team in July 2011.

She places a strong importance on the special bond that our clients and their pets have.  About her goals for each visit she says, "I want every client to feel that they have been heard and that their pet has been valued as if we were treating our own."  Her special interests are feline medicine and surgery and dentistry.

Dr. Vinch and her husband, Jim, make their home in Woodbridge with their son, Golden rescue Ace, their cat, Midge, and their guinea pig, Cinnamon.

 Dr. Julie McBride

I first talked about wanting to be a veterinarian in 7th grade and happily was able to fulfill that dream.  I attended Texas A&M University for my undergraduate and veterinary degrees.  I love working with animals and am lucky to work with people who love animals, too.  It's my passion to combine those feelings for creatures great and small with a thrill for science.  Using that scientific knowledge to help pets and their people is wonderful!

My family includes my very understanding husband, Keith, (all those animals, including adoptees and fosters!), a son, Sean, and, daughter, Catherine, 2 dogs, Bonnie and Domino, and 2 cats, Indy and Q.

Thanks to my husband's 26 years in the Air Force we've moved ourselves and numerous animals around the U.S. and to Germany and South Korea.  We're happy to call Northern Virginia home now!

meet_dr_patty_katz.jpgDr. Patty Katz

Dr. Katz joined the animal clinic staff in June 1996.  She is a 1994 graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  She has been doing work as a volunteer at Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program (NVTRP) over the past two years.  Dr. Katz is married and has a son and a daughter, 2 cats, 2 dogs, a fish, and a Russian tortoise.

Dr. Mary Galloway

Dr. Mary Galloway has been associated with our veterinary hospitals since 1995, and currently is a relief veterinarian for us. She has had a long history of involvement with companion animal training and canine reproduction, initially as a successful obedience competitor and later as a breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties). Prior to and during veterinary school, she worked as a companion animal trainer.  She is also the owner of Fairhill Veterinary Services, providing reproduction and behavioral counseling.

Michele Krause, LVT

Michele Krause graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 1987, receiving her A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology. She has been with the Gunston Animal Hospital practice since October 1998 and is now the Senior Licensed Veterinary Technician and Clinical Manager.  Michele has a special interest in anesthesia and dentistry.  She is always looking for ways to gain more veterinary knowledge and participates in many continuing education opportunities.  She has a love for Great Danes and enjoys seeing them when they come to the veterinary clinic.  She has a Harlequin Great Dane, Ruby, and a Cavachon, Buster.  Michele lives in the Alexandria area with her beautiful daughter, Kelsey, two dogs and two cats.  In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding at Meadowood Stables in Lorton.

meet_andrea_tiede_lvt_1.jpgAndrea Tiede, LVT

Andrea Tiede started working as kennel attendant at Dale City Animal Hospital in 1997.  After a few months, she quickly became a veterinary assistant. Andrea had always wanted to be a veterinarian. After working at the hospital for awhile, she decided that she preferred nursing over becoming a doctor. She decided to pursue becoming a licensed veterinary technician after graduating high school. She graduated from Hylton Senior High School in 1999 with an advanced diploma. After high school, Andrea went to Northern Virginia Community College and received her A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology in 2002. Andrea is the senior licensed veterinary technician and clinical supervisor at Dale City Animal Hospital.

Andrea married Joshua Tiede in October 2003. They live in the Manassas area with two dogs and 2 cats.  They now have 2 beautiful daughters, Hannah and Hailey.

meet_stephany_gallardo_lvt.jpgStephany Pizarro LVT

Stephany has lived in NOVA her entire life and moved to Prince William County about 13 years ago.  She began working at Dale City Animal Hospital while in Tech School, after shadowing the doctors and staff for experience.  During her Internship she also began to work at the Gunston location, where she now primarily works.

What Stephany loves the most about her job are the hands on duties she completes as an LVT, "I love taking xrays and cleaning teeth.  Mostly, I love being part of the team and helping pets."  She takes special care to relieve fear or stress any patient may be experiencing while visiting an unfamiliar environment.  She also enjoys getting to know all of our clients and helping them care for their pets.

She shares her home in Woodbridge with her husband, Diego, her dogs, Oliver and Beatrix, and cats, Mercy and McFlurry.  Oliver is the love of her life!

Stephany is one of the Licensed Technicians and is fluent in Spanish and English.

Mary Garman, LVT

Mary Garman became one of the newest additions to our animal clinic team in 2014.  Mary's first job was with animals and she fell in love with caring for them.  She decided she wanted to advocate for those without a voice which inspired her to pursue a career in the Veterinary field.  She graduated from The Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College in St. Louis, Mo. and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in March of 2014.  She also has an A.S.S. from NOVA in social sciences.  Her goal with every patient we see is to make their visit with us enjoyable and wants to make sure they look forward to their next visit with our veterinarians.

She is a native of Prince William County living in Brentsville, Va since she was born.  She started working with animals when she was 16 at a local animal clinic and boarding kennel and has worked with animals since then, finding her true passion in caring for animals.  She enjoys small animal, exotic, and large animal medicine.

She has one dog (who she affectionately calls her Pibble Mix) who is her 'furr baby' that she adopted from her Tech school.  She also has one tabby cat, Loki, adopted through the animal hospital's Have a Heart program.

Lisa Larsen, Practice Manager, CVPM

Lisa joined our veterinary hospitals in the spring of 2011 and has held a variety of positions between our two locations before taking on the role as Practice Manager.  Her lifelong love of working with animals found her working as a Kennel Attendant, Zookeeper’s Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, and Anesthetic Assistant for several years before finding her home with us at the Noah’s Ark Animal Hospitals.

"Working around people with such a passion not just for the patients in their care but for the people that love those pets is an amazing experience.  When I began working for Noah's Ark Animal Hospitals I knew I had found the right hospital for me after witnessing the dedication the staff had for their patients, the pet owners, and each other."

Lisa is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association.

She is originally from Nebraska where she attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln before moving to the Northern Virginia area.  Lisa and her husband, Luke, share their Woodbridge home with a lively collection of Shiba Inus, cats, Chiweenies, and one super energetic Dachshund.  Several of her pets were adopted through the Have a Heart program where they were cared for by the staff at each hospital before being healthy enough for adoption.
